It is found that the user properties in Yammer is not in sync with that in Azure AD. Currently there is no way to initiate a sync from Yammer or to enforce a sync from Azure AD. The only workaround is to update or change a user properties of the local AD to initiate the sync to Azure AD and then to yammer. It does not make sense to update any user properties when there is no update necessary. So, I hope the product design team should consider to include this function in the near future.8 votes
Today we support 1-way sync from Azure AD to Yammer. We plan to build 2-way sync in the future. Here’s an article tha describes the current behavior:
Allow admins to export a group members list via the group settings, and highlight which members are admins. This can be useful when a group is changing and its membership needs top be reviewed, and also if a group is closing in favour of using another group. The group members could be invited to the other group by exporting them into a csv and then uploading them into the other group.56 votes
We have plans to build this.
Skype Broadcast allows us to add a Yammer feed to a LIVE broadcast event page. However, in our case (and I am thinking we are not that different from global companies) the ongoing conversation takes place inside Yammer, so it would make much more sense to reverse that notion and instead allow us to mount LIVE video events inside a Yammer group - as that LIVE ebvent will also be a part of the ever ongoing conversation and not a standalone event.13 votes
When a new user is logging into Yammer, the default language is English and is not synchronized with the prefered language from Office 365.
This is really painfull and do not help users to stay into Yammer !20 votes
Display the files of the group21 votes
Thanks for this suggestion—this is on our product backlog.
A member of a group should be able to access these sections in order to upload/download a file from the cell phone app. I noticed I needed this functionality when asking my teammates to share notes from events in one location, and this would be best done from a remote application from their phones.21 votes
Thanks for your suggestion! We are planning to provide a better way to access files & notes on mobile – however the timeline for when we will build this is not decided yet at this point.
In our environment, a lot of user based access is managed trough securitygroups in O365. We'd like to have the ability to integrate users from those security groups automatically into a certain yammer group - e.g. a new member of HR is created and set to the security group to have access to certain sharepoint teamsites. This member then should automatically have access to the corresponding yammer group for that team.25 votes
We’re working on some infrastructure ground work to allow for this feature. It’s definitely on our roadmap.
Let me use bold/italics and simple bullet points to make Yammer posts easier to read.299 votes
We’re currently looking to learn about text formatting in Yammer and your other work tools. Please fill out the following survey to help us design this feature request: bit.ly/2m4Zj7I
You will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a $60 amazon gift card upon completing this survey. Thank you!
We have Yammer as an O365 service, yet are not able to embed O365 videos. We can with You Tube videos! This seems like a simple-simon thing that Yammer should support.49 votes
Is there a way to use the Display name instead of the First Name and Last Name. We have some users who hate their real/legal names. At least in the AD and Offie365 they have the option to change their display name. Is it possible to add this feature in Yammer?19 votes
We have been looking at using the Display Name from ActiveDirectory instead of first and last name, which would have other benefits such as allowing LastName FirstName format in cultures like Chinese, Japanese or Korean.
Currently, for users who don’t like their names, they can also change the displayed names in Yammer (through the gear menu).
have the same sign-in experience as the other O365 apps especially the experience coupled with MS Authenticator SSO.
At the moment when you sign in through the Yammer! app the experience differs from other O365 apps (i.e. OneDrive, Words and etc.) when ADFS is enabled. The number of times a user has to sign-in (enter username and password) does not promote good user experience.4 votes
We agree. There are a number of factors that make our sign-in experience more complicated than expected but work is currently underway to remove additional complexity and improve our Yammer app login experience.
If we are giving praises to our yammer users maybe it would be great to be able to see praises per user.
I would like to use yammer as training platform for our teachers at school but its important to know all the praises that a teacher already has.
We are planning to support this in future but haven’t fully worked out how and where to show this. One idea is integrating with the Office 365 profile, which also shows praises the user receives in Delve.
Is there any way the Yammer admins can view and analyse the activities (all) related to a specific Yammer group ?

We will be announcing some new reporting capabilities for Office 365 admins in the next few months and will be making some exciting announcements around reporting in Yammer at Ignite in September.
Hyperlink option is not available in the posts via Updates but only to group admins by an announcements. Would be a good feature even for posting updates as well.31 votes
We agree: the current functionality (where you can add links to a normal post, but not hyperlink them or have them display great-looking previews) has a lot of room for improvement!
We would like to use Yammer for social business networking, but we need to have the data location in Japanese due to company's legal restrictions.1 vote
We have a roadmap to build local data residency. General availability for new networks in the EU is slated for mid next year. I don’t have a date for Japan yet, but we are working toward this.
Currently links on an Organisations SharePoint Online are not recognised by Yammer and a preview is not shown.
This is the organisations own instance of Yammer and should recognise and preview content on SharePoint Online and other O365 content within its tenant.22 votes
Admin should be able to turn off the automatic posting of new members. "Chris Christensen has #joined the gk.no network. Take a moment to welcome Niklas-Aleksander." this message bugs down the posts since we have hundreds joining every week. The users would like to see the content, not all the new joiners. When the network is more mature we could turn it on again.13 votes
Networks with more than 1000 members will not see the #joined message, but it’s currently in place for smaller networks. We’ve heard this request a lot and are currently rethinking our #joined message.

We plan to move advanced reporting functionality like this into the Office365 Analytics Dashboard and make data available via the Office365 Management API. Also, there are third party partners that offer advanced analytics and are generally more open to custom feature requests than we can be. Try tygraph or Swoop Analytics.
Emoticons don't seem to work/be available in Yammer? It would be good to be able communicate in a light-hearted way by using common / built-in emoticons40 votes
If you’re using a Mac, Yammer supports the built-in emoji picker (hold down control-command-space to make it pop up). But that’s not easily discoverable, and it doesn’t help Windows users. So we are planning to add this.
