Announcements tend to be used to communicate to large user groups and for larger companies, the likelihood of covering different countries is high.
I believe that Announcements is part of the legacy Yammer functionality but being able to translate these feels like a very good fit13 votes
Let me use bold/italics and simple bullet points to make Yammer posts easier to read.212 votes
We’re currently looking to learn about text formatting in Yammer and your other work tools. Please fill out the following survey to help us design this feature request: bit.ly/2m4Zj7I
You will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a $60 amazon gift card upon completing this survey. Thank you!
I would like Yammer to allow the organization of folders (and subfolders) for files, so that the group can access different clusters of material (e.g., syllabi, exams, study guides, etc.).33 votes
We will be integrating with OneDrive for file storage and management, which will give the ability for sub-folders and sorting.
Although the [Shift + Enter] within Skype makes it possible to break a line, I am aware that the Yammer's [Enter], instead of the [Shift + Enter] leading to the post completion, leads to the line break. Due to the difference of behavior between Skype and Yammer mentioned above, there would be a possibility that any users could post their messages mistakenly to Yammer, and therefore I hope the additional feature to be implemented that enables for the Yammer users to perform the line breaks along with the [Enter] or [Shift + Enter].1 vote
Thanks for your feedback! We are planning to make a change to our current behavior such that [enter] or [shift + enter] become new lines.
Hide Planner link (right side of the page) when the user does not have it enabled in its O365 tenant.
With O365 Groups, the user sees a Planner link on the right side of the Yammer page. This is not desirable when the user does not have Planner enabled on its O365 tenant. Is it possible to find a way to automatically remove this link for these users?1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion! Currently, this is not feasible, but we do plan to have this pending some updates from the Planner team.
When editing a post, allow the author to replace the attachment. For example, when they realize that the attachment needs an edit.1 vote
If we are giving praises to our yammer users maybe it would be great to be able to see praises per user.
I would like to use yammer as training platform for our teachers at school but its important to know all the praises that a teacher already has.
We are planning to support this in future but haven’t fully worked out how and where to show this. One idea is integrating with the Office 365 profile, which also shows praises the user receives in Delve.
In our environment, a lot of user based access is managed trough securitygroups in O365. We'd like to have the ability to integrate users from those security groups automatically into a certain yammer group - e.g. a new member of HR is created and set to the security group to have access to certain sharepoint teamsites. This member then should automatically have access to the corresponding yammer group for that team.22 votes
We’re working on some infrastructure ground work to allow for this feature. It’s definitely on our roadmap.
Admin should be able to turn off the automatic posting of new members. "Chris Christensen has #joined the gk.no network. Take a moment to welcome Niklas-Aleksander." this message bugs down the posts since we have hundreds joining every week. The users would like to see the content, not all the new joiners. When the network is more mature we could turn it on again.2 votes
Networks with more than 1000 members will not see the #joined message, but it’s currently in place for smaller networks. We’ve heard this request a lot and are currently rethinking our #joined message.
Emoticons don't seem to work/be available in Yammer? It would be good to be able communicate in a light-hearted way by using common / built-in emoticons29 votes
If you’re using a Mac, Yammer supports the built-in emoji picker (hold down control-command-space to make it pop up). But that’s not easily discoverable, and it doesn’t help Windows users. So we are planning to add this.
Hyperlink option is not available in the posts via Updates but only to group admins by an announcements. Would be a good feature even for posting updates as well.19 votes
We agree: the current functionality (where you can add links to a normal post, but not hyperlink them or have them display great-looking previews) has a lot of room for improvement!
We have a business need we cannot cover (report request from the Office of the CEO):
Which are the countries/ functions who have the highest number of employees in Yammer,
What is the most active or numerous organizational layer/ function/ work stream
Any adoption rate (how many people have joined the past months, year, etc);
Ability to report on existing groups, group owners, related country, last edit date, statistics for the last 12 months showing – members, posts, likes, replies, visits, attached documents, storage consumed38 votes
We plan to move advanced reporting functionality like this into the Office365 Analytics Dashboard and make data available via the Office365 Management API. Also, there are third party partners that offer advanced analytics and are generally more open to custom feature requests than we can be. Try tygraph or Swoop Analytics.
I would love the ability to move messages from All Company to a Group!!!80 votes
This is in our backlog.
Is there a way to use the Display name instead of the First Name and Last Name. We have some users who hate their real/legal names. At least in the AD and Offie365 they have the option to change their display name. Is it possible to add this feature in Yammer?1 vote
We have been looking at using the Display Name from ActiveDirectory instead of first and last name, which would have other benefits such as allowing LastName FirstName format in cultures like Chinese, Japanese or Korean.
Currently, for users who don’t like their names, they can also change the displayed names in Yammer (through the gear menu).
I use the yammer app almost exclusively, but there are a few things you can do in the web interface that you can't do in the app. Eg I can't bookmark posts, and I can only delete my replies, but not my original posts.7 votes
I would like you to add a function that allows to limit the issuing of temporary passwords for Yammer, as even in environments that require SSO authentication temporary passwords grant access to the Yammer application.1 vote
We’re planning to remove this over the next year.
When a new user is logging into Yammer, the default language is English and is not synchronized with the prefered language from Office 365.
This is really painfull and do not help users to stay into Yammer !12 votes
inform users when creating a group that 'unlisted' groups do not spool up an associated Office 365 group.
Currently, if a new group is created as 'unlisted', it won't spool up an associated Office 365 group, providing resources like SharePoint, Planner and OneNote.
This isn't spoken about at the group creation stage, and needs to be so that users aren't confused when what they're expecting doesn't happen.3 votes
Hi there, the reason this happens is that there is a privacy concern is that O365 groups does not currently support private unlisted groups. They are working on it though, so we will at some point begin connecting those group types too.
A member of a group should be able to access these sections in order to upload/download a file from the cell phone app. I noticed I needed this functionality when asking my teammates to share notes from events in one location, and this would be best done from a remote application from their phones.11 votes
Thanks for your suggestion! We are planning to provide a better way to access files & notes on mobile – however the timeline for when we will build this is not decided yet at this point.
