It seems the Pinned menu was altered recently. Instead of having three options (Select a file on Yammer, Select a file on SharePoint, and Link) only the Link option is now available. Our Microsoft rep is seeing the same "feature" in her environment. Please restore the missing options or enable an administrator the ability to toggle these options on or off for the community. Changing this functionality without notice has caused confusion for some of our users, and doesn't make sense given the recent push to make SharePoint more integrated into the product. Thanks.2 votes
Thanks for the feedback! This is a known bug we’re working on.
Make INFO and NETWORK RESOURCES links visible on MOBILE too!!!!!15 votes
We are currently working on bring all group resources such as info, files, etc. to mobile!
Either when I copy and paste a link from a SharePoint site- or I select a file from SharePoint to include in a Yammer post it would be so much more captivating to the user if the file showed up like it does when you "upload a file from your computer" in the yammer post text box. You get a preview of the file directly in the post- and when you open the file you still see the discussion thread to the right of the file itself. This would really help user engagement and enable us to use a common sharepoint across multiple yammer groups where it makes sense!

This was deprioritized for awhile, but we’re working on it now! This should be available in the next couple of months.
I have done a straw poll of Marks and Spencer Yammer site and out of 184 votes thus far 64% view Yammer via their mobile phone however they are unable to view the Pinned section on their phones. Is it possible to have a drop down menu on each group so that the pinned items can be viewed on the phone.39 votes
We have started work on allowing users to access group resources, such as pinned items, on mobile.
Pull the graphics from what I'm viewing on my IOS device into Yammer when I select "send to Yammer".
On my iPad or iPhone, when viewing articles in a browser, I select "send to Yammer." the only thing that comes over is the link. I would like the graphic that is tied to the article to come with the link. This makes the post in Yammer much more interesting/inviting.4 votes
This is a very timely request. Generation of link previews will be in version 7.1 of the Yammer iOS app, which is slated for release in the next couple of weeks.
Unable to upload documents from a web browser ( Safari ) in an Apple iPad device . This feature was there before a month .
Unable to upload documents from a web browser ( Safari ) in an Apple iPad device . This feature was there before a month . Having office 365 license in hand and unable to access it from iPad device will cause frustration for consumers like us. And the work around which MS has suggested is to have a Yammer app installed which will not be accepted in many companies by their security policies & Terms.1 vote
Thanks for the feedback. This is a known bug, we are currently working on fixing it.
Invite people with external email into Yammer groups without having to invite them as guest with the admin panel.
Invite people with whatever email they have into a specific Yammer group you created and not into the entire Sharepoint network via guest invitation.10 votes
Hi all, the #yammer update on iOS (latest version updated, of course) is rather not working properly. I use Yammer on iOS 10.3 / iPad Mini 2.
I encounter several bugs, one listed here:
the number of unread messages shown in one group is decreasing when i scroll down, but pops up again with the original number (of unread messages) when i close and re-open the app.5 votes
We’re aware and working on addressing this – thanks for your feedback!
We would like to have a function of "post reads" (or "views"/ "reach") under the messages. "Likes" don't give us enough information.
As a Public organization we post a lot of administration messages which don't often have a character "we like it" but more information for our employees. To ask everybody to like messages so we know they've seen the message is not always correct (we are not always out for likes but to inform).
We also want to know that stuff we post is seen (as a motivation).40 votes
We are currently building seen counts for threads.
Open corresponding thread or discussion in Yammer mobile app when clicking on links in email notificaitons from your phone
When clicking on a link to a yammer thread from an email on your mobile device, the app should open up to the referenced thread in the email. Currently, when you do this the app will open the app directly to the 'My Groups' homepage8 votes
Thanks for reporting this issue! It’s a bug that’s already been squashed and the changes will be in the next release!
We would like to use Yammer for social business networking, but we need to have the data location in Europe due legal restrictions65 votes
We are working towards having all EU data in EU datacenters over the next few years. In the meantime, Yammer has recently achieved Category C Compliance in the Office 365 framework. This gives Yammer advanced industry standard accreditation such as ISO27001, SOC2 and European Model Clauses which speaks to the safety and security of data transferred from Europe to the United States. There are several large European customers that are actively using Yammer, with data stored in the United States such as:
British Airways (UK)
Rio Tinto (UK)
Centrica/British Gas (UK)
Please see https://customers.microsoft.com/pages/advancedsearch.aspx?mrmcproducts=yammer to see case studies of customers around the world using Yammer successfully with their data located in the United States.
Microsoft Outlook has the shortcut Control+Enter to send an e-mail. Google's recognised the popularity of this shortcut in attracting Outlook users and have implemented it.
Microsoft should implement the Control+Enter shortcut for posting messages.
1) Allows conversations to progress more rapidly: pressing the 'Post' button requires using the mouse or using Tab+Tab+Tab+Space.
2) The familiar Control+Enter shortcut for Outlook users doesn't need to be relearned for Yammer users.
3) Increased consistency across Microsoft products.27 votes
We have a business need we cannot cover (report request from the Office of the CEO):
Which are the countries/ functions who have the highest number of employees in Yammer,
What is the most active or numerous organizational layer/ function/ work stream
Any adoption rate (how many people have joined the past months, year, etc);
Ability to report on existing groups, group owners, related country, last edit date, statistics for the last 12 months showing – members, posts, likes, replies, visits, attached documents, storage consumed54 votes
We are continually improving the reporting available through the Office 365 dashboard. For example, in the coming few weeks, you will see improved group reporting. See here for more details: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Office-365-Blog/New-Yammer-groups-usage-report-and-updated-Office-365-groups/ba-p/93906
For us, discussions very often focus on documents. The Yammer file storage is not a suitable place for storing important documents: there's no taxonomy, no document management and poor discoverability.178 votes
I am a yammer network admin, I would like to have the group members count, admin name, group last accessed date, group last post date in Export date option available in network admin portal. And also create trend report for group.7 votes
We’re currently building an integration with the Office365 Analytics Dashboard and Office365 Management API that will satisfy the Yammer analytics needs of some admins. More advanced reporting is available through third-party partners, like tygraph and Swoop.
You're missing trick here Microsoft. At the moment you need to use a browser to use the full capabilities of polling. The app is not compatible. Once it is though, this'll give a reason for businesses to use the Yammer app in conferences, meetings, crowdsourcing events, where just need to take out their phones to vote in live polls. Results can then be shown on the big screen.44 votes
Right now we do not plan to build native poll CREATION on the apps, but we are currently building vote/view capability on the iOS app and Android will follow shortly. Once this is done, it should enable the use case you mentioned – ability to get audiences to engage with Yammer polls with the phones in their pockets.
I'd like to be able to read the full description of a Group from a group list. When i click on the group to try to read the rest of the description it still doesn't display the full description. And trust me, some of these descriptions are two sentences, not full novels. So we want to enable the full description to be viewable6 votes
Thank you for the suggestion: We are doing some work and running tests in this area right now and making group descriptions more visible is part of that.
Enable Yammer admin to create additional taxonomy for groups (for us department and country) - then we can easy report on that data
We cannot understand which department is active and which needs more emphiasis to start using Yammer.
We need to differentiate between groups, based on taxonomy data mandatory selected per group
For example this can be department - like Commercial, Finance, HR, etc or country - relvant for multinational companies
Today we have to read every groups and try to guess by its name which area or country it is relevant to14 votes
We’ve been experimenting with the idea of having different group types and I think we’re likely to figure out something that works soon.
I understand that when viewing the yammer, all post will collapse. However, When I click the "View conversation", all post are still being collapse and I have to expand the conversation manually...
"Can't we have all the post expanded under 'view conversation'?"
It's now more like "Get direct link to conversation" instead of "view conversation".4 votes
We are actually currently working on some changes to the text on both the page that “view conversation” takes you to and on the button itself.
- Don't see your idea?
